The mind-blowing cost of food at Formula 1 events in the USA has again been thrown into the spotlight.
Last year the exorbitant food prices at the Miami Grand Prix made headlines when an influencer shared the menu (that included $270 nachos) of the Hard Rock’s Beach Club Deck.
Now, this weekend’s Las Vegas Grand Prix also has racing fans doing a double-take at the cost of food.

New Zealand IndyCar driver Scott McLaughlin was certainly one observer who was in disbelief when he saw how much a meat pie cost at the international food stores for the glamour event.
“24 bucks for an Aussie meat pie which is 37 bucks (in) Aussie dollars,” McLaughlin blasted on social media.
And racing fans were also in disbelief as the “tell ‘em they’re dreaming’” memes and comments flowed.
“Almost enough to go vegetarian,” one fan blasted.
And another said: “$42 NZD, better be the diameter of an F1 tyre for that price.”
And another: “Someone is making a fortune.”
And another: “That won’t pass the pub test.”
And another: “That doesn’t sound very Australian.”
And another: “Sounds like the Mafia is still running Vegas That is absolutely criminal.”
The $24 for fish and chips (which equates to over $37 in AUD) also caught people’s attention.
“24 for ‘fish and chips’ … and it’s probably stale chips on a styrophone plate with a crusty fish you can’t cut into properly because the fork is also styrophone,” one fan remarked.
And another: “And $24 for fish and chips also? 😵💫”
Last year beauty influencer Brigette Pheloung went viral when she was the Miami Grand Prix and called the Hard Rock menu “the most expensive items I think I have ever seen in my life”.
Her review of the $270 nachos was viewed more than 2.5 million times.
